Who can donate
- People of any age or gender, including people who wear glasses or have had cataract surgery.
- Eye banks check each donation. A few conditions, such as certain infections, prevent donation.
Regular check-ups, UV protection, healthy food, screen breaks and quick treatment keep your sight safe. VIAN is committed to helping protect, preserve and restore vision.
Corneal blindness can often be treated with a corneal transplant, and that needs a donated cornea. One person's decision can give sight to two people.
Pledge to donate by registering with a registered eye bank or hospital near you. In India, National Eye Donation Fortnight is held every year from 25 August to 8 September. This is general information, not medical advice.
